Securing Your Baggage
Please ensure when you present your baggage at check-in that:-
Your baggage is securely closed and if possible locked. Passengers are advised to secure all valuables, personal documents and medication in their carry-on baggage to avoid any inconvenience.
Loose straps or other items are not hanging from the bag, as they may get caught in the baggage system and cause further damage.
You remove all old baggage tags and old name labels, as this may delay the delivery of your baggage to your final destination.
You label each bag on the inside with your name and full destination address and on the outside with your name and destination city . Iraqi Airways security requires your full address on the outside of your baggage.
Your carry camera equipment, electronic equipment, cash, jewellery and other similar valuable items, as well as medication and prescriptions are with you on board the aircraft. Do not pack these items in your checked baggage .
Prohibited items in your carry-on baggage include; darts, toys or replica guns, plastic or metal catapults, household cutlery knives with blades of any length, paper knives, razor blades, straight razors, tradesman’s tools, scissors, ice picks, manicure sets, hypodermic syringes (unless medically required, must have a Doctor’s note), knitting needles, sporting bats, billiard, snooker,

- Having a baby is a very special experience. Iraqi Airways shares this blessed moment and wishes to ensure expectant mothers are comfortable.
Expectant mothers can be accepted for travel up to the 35th week of pregnancy. Once it appears that the expectant mother is in normal health, she will be accepted for travel without medical clearance up to the 32nd week. Between the 32nd and 35th week, a medical certificate is required confirming: - The pregnancy condition is in normal state
- Time of confinement
- There are no expected complications in delivery and,
- Confinement is expected in less than four weeks
- Under no circumstances will an expectant mother be accepted for travel beyond the 35th week. We recommend that expectant mothers undergo a medical examination and obtain advice from their doctor before undertaking a journey by air.
- Iraqi airways will make flying while pregnant a stress-free experience. The following tips should keep you as comfortable as possible-:
- Reserve an aisle seat or request a bulkhead-row seat in advance so you can walk about the cabin easily and visit the bathroom frequently if necessary.

- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and flat shoes on the day of your trip.

- Drink plenty of water.
- Get a small pillow from the flight attendant and place it under your lower back to avoid back strain.
- Your own doctor should prescribe travel sickness medication.

You may only reconfirm your return flight, when you arrive in that city or country. Failure to reconfirm your flight will result to cancellation of your seat.
