Flight Information
- Plan Your Trip
Iraqi Airways currently operates 2 flights a week from London Gatwick South Terminal to Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah. - Please check the flight schedule page for more information on flight times
Flight Changes
- Need to change your flight? In order to do so, we need to know the type of fare you purchased before we can advise or issue any change. Flight changes are any changes made to a confirmed and ticketed reservation. Please identify your category if your travel date has not expired:
- For all tickets we need to know the passengers name, flight number and date of travel. If your travel date has passed we will need to know your booking code/ reservation reference. This may be found on your ticket under the PNR code. We also need your fare basis/ ticket designator which can be found on your ticket. This information assists us in finding the rules of the fare you purchased. If none of the above can be found we will be required to take your ticket to the nearest Iraqi Airways Ticket Office. A legible fax of your ticket may also be of assistance.
- Before purchasing your ticket, we recommend that all passengers become familiar with the rules governing the fare you paid. Pay particular attention to penalties pertaining to date changes, no-show, and cancellation, minimum and maximum stay. Double penalties may apply if you did not call to advise of any flight changes.
- Note that if you no-showed for a flight, your return travel will be automatically cancelled in the system. The explanation is simple – if you did not leave your first point of travel, you will not be able to return. As such, no-show, date change, revalidation and/or reissue penalties will apply.
- Likewise if you purchased your ticket from a Travel Agent, we also recommend you contact the Travel Agent for assistance, as requesting this information from external agencies (such as Tour Operators and Travel Agents) will require 5 working days.
Schedule Changes
- From time to time, and due to operational reasons beyond our control, we are faced with a situation that obliges us to alter flight times or routing, such as, including an unplanned stopover point or cancelling or over flying an intermediate point. This is called a schedule change.
- Often schedule changes are unexpected and can be instituted at the last minute. It is therefore important for you to reconfirm your flight at least 120 hours prior to your scheduled departure time.
Voluntary Flight Changes
- Voluntary flight changes occur when a passenger holding a valid ticket, a confirmation on that flight and presented themselves for check-in within the required time, and who, at Iraqi Airways request for volunteers, willingly accepts the offer of compensation in exchange for relinquishing his/her confirmed reservation. Iraqi Airways will make the necessary arrangements for passengers to be placed on the next available flight.
- If it is determined that more passengers hold confirmed reservations than there are seats available on the aircraft, as in the case of overbooked flights, no one may be denied boarding against his will, until an airline personnel first asks for volunteers who are willing to give up their reservations on that flight, in exchange for compensation. Flight arrangements will be made for the passenger on another day or flight. Compensatory amounts vary with your point of departure and this is provided in the form of a Travel Voucher or cash when stipulated by the laws of the particular country. Travel Vouchers must be used within one year and cannot be transferred or cashed.
- Locally boarded passengers having their residence within a reasonable distance from the airport, and who do not wish to utilize the hotel accommodation offered at Iraqi Aiways expense, may opt for free return transportation between the airport and their residence. Compensation will still be provided
Involuntary Flight Changes
- Involuntary flight changes occur when passengers holding a valid ticket; a confirmed flight for which they present themselves for check-in within the required time; and who did not offer themselves voluntarily but at Iraqi Airways request are denied boarding in according with the boarding priority rules.
- If it is determined by Iraqi Airways that more passengers hold confirmed reservations than there are seats available on the aircraft, as in the case of overbooked flights, no one may be denied boarding against his will, until an airline personnel first ask for volunteers who are willing to give up their reservations on that flight. Note that overbooking is a standard practice not only in travel but also various sectors of the entertainment and other service industries.
The criterion for determining which passengers are involuntary denied boarding will be in the order of check-in, except in the case of incapacitated, sick or unaccompanied minors, whose reservations have been subject to compliance with special conditions. - Arrangements will be made for passengers to be placed on the next available service.
- Locally boarded passengers having their residence within a reasonable distance from the airport, and who do not wish to utilize the hotel accommodation offered at Iraqi Airways expense, may opt for free return transportation between the airport and their residence. Compensation will still be provided.
- Compensatory amounts vary with your point of departure and this is provided in the form of a Travel Voucher, or cash only when stipulated by the laws of the particular country. Travel Vouchers must be used within one year and cannot be transferred or cashed.
